Gate piers and attached walls. Early C18 and C19. Coursed rubble
walls partly relined to inner face in brick early C19 when gate piers
in hammer-dressed stone were added. Forms 3 sides of an apsidal square.
Gate piers, square on plan, have cornice surmounted by crudely sculpted
pineapple finials. Walls have flat copings which ramp over fine
original C18 ashlar doorway with bolection-moulded eared architrave
and segmental pediment. Rebate for door on outer face with flight of
3 stone steps approaching it. Set on wall over doorway is pineapple
finial. Set in west wall, which is stone-lined, is plain doorway
leading to farm buildings (q.v.).
