Training College, now unoccupied. c1909-11 by J. Vickers Edwards
(County Architect). Hammer-dressed stone, ashlar dressings, Welsh
blue-slate roof. 3 storeys. U-shaped with projecting wings. Wide
symmetrical facade. Central 3 bays break forward and have Ionic porch
with segmental open pediment. Above canted window to each floor with
triangular pediment carried over 2nd-floor window surmounted by
balustraded parapet and 3-stage clock-tower flanked by piers with
urns. Mostly 2-light windows with flat-faced mullions to other bays.
Wings have circular window with keystone set in segmental pediment to
2nd floor. Wings are half-hipped and gableted. Mansard roof with
6 tall stacks.
