No.1 is now (1992) part of No.156 High Street (qv). Pair of houses in row. C17 timber-framed main fabric with mid to late C18 front. Flemish bond brickwork, roof not visible. 3 storeys, 1+1-windowed. 4-pane sashes to exposed boxes, under brick voussoirs with central fluted keys with cornice, stone cills. Ground floor has C20 shop fronts. In the parapet, which appears to have been rebuilt, is a worn date-stone; no date or inscription can be deciphered. INTERIOR not inspected.
