Pair of houses in row. Mid C19. Stucco; grouted scantle slate
roof with projecting eaves at the front; brick chimneys over
the cross party walls; cast-iron ogee gutter to No.17 (left).
Pair of mirror-image-plan houses with parallel entrance halls
together in the centre; each house with a reception room at
the front and service rooms behind. 2-storeys over basement;
4-window range. Original hornless sashes with glazing bars;
symmetrical overall front has pair of doorways in the middle
with open porch carried on square columns. No.17 (left) has
original panelled door and overlight; ground-floor right
window has only 4 panes. Windows of No.17 have moulded
architraves; those of No.18 have rustications around the
openings (including doorway), and on the right. INTERIORS not
inspected. SUBSIDIARY FEATURES: shallow basement forecourts
have front retaining walls surmounted by iron railings with
carved finials.
