House and cottage, formerly inn. C18 with C17 origins and C20
alterations. Brick; timber-framing and coursed rubble to rear;
plain-tile roof; brick rear stack. L-shaped plan with wing to
rear. 2-storeys and attic; C18 brick band over. Ground floor
has central door with canted bay either side, mainly C20, all
under pentice roof; part-glazed door to far right leads to
passage and to cottage, which has C20 door and windows;
earlier wood mullioned window in attic gable has leaded
lights; massive purlins visible. Rear of No.23 has box framing
above passage way; C20, 2-storey extension. INTERIORS: reputed
to contain timber-framing.
