HARWICH

GV II

House. Late C1. Red Flemish-bond brickwork with clay plain tile gabled roof. South-east gable is of brickwork and NW of painted weatherboarding. EXTERIOR: 2 storeys, attics and cellars and with parapeted front. 2 hipped roofed dormers with double-hung sash windows and small panes and 2 stacks behind ridgeline. Street elevation has 4-window range of flush double-hung sash windows with small panes and flat rubbed brick arches. Raised brick board above 1st-floor window heads. Off-centre doorcase with panelled Tuscan pilasters and a slightly projecting flat hood over concave curved cornice. Contemporary recessed entrance with door of 6 raised-and-fielded panels and panelled reveals. Rendered plinth with 2 cast-iron grille cellar vents and recessed cast-iron bootscraper. INTERIOR: contemporary door architraves, panelled walls to entrance hall and timber-arched opening to rear staircase which has Chinese Chippendale handrail. 3-storey rear extensions with 'M' roof all in black weatherboarding.
