GV II

Two handed houses, originally identical. Early C19 and of red
Flemish-bond brickwork with gabled roof of clay plain tiles.
Parallel hipped rear roof of clay plain tiles. 2 storeys and
attics with 3 flat-roofed dormers behind plain parapet. Front
has 2-window range of double-hung sash windows with small
panes under slightly curved rubbed brick arches. No.23 now has
additional C20 casement under brick arch. The 6-panel front
doors are slightly recessed with moulded architraves and No.23
retains original moulded cornice and frieze with
console-shaped ends. 2 large rectangular stacks behind
ridgeline. INTERIOR: encased spine beams in front rooms.
Houses had narrow winder stairs, that to No.23 has been
altered at ground-floor level. (No.24 interior not seen).
