Shop, now cafe and shop; c.1900, with late C20 alterations. For
Boot's chemists. Faience front; roof not visible. Eclectic
style with Decorated Gothic and Renaissance Revival details. 3
storeys; 5-window range.
First-floor bays divided by Ionic columns with moulded impost
band under a main cornice with breaks over the columns. Frieze
has roundels with the letter B. In each bay, a moulded
elliptical-arched opening containing a 3-light cross casement,
the central light incorporating a pediment and fanlight.
Second floor has a central bay flanked by Ionic columns on
pedestals and topped with a shouldered dentillated
semicircular gable, with supporting volutes and finial.
Elliptical arched 3-light mullioned window with keystone,
Gothic tracery, and short columns and pedestals fronting the
mullions. Side bays are divided by short Ionic columns on
pedestals, under a cornice with breaks. In each bay, 3
flat-headed windows with Gothic tracery and voussoirs. All
these windows except the extreme left have leaded glazing.
Above again, a pierced coped balustrade with pedestals and
finials.
Ground floor has 2 late C20 shop fronts with shared central
entrance and continuous fascia.
