Former Rectory. c1743, built for the rector of Begbroke and vicar of
Yarnton (reputedly based on Yarnton Vicarage); late C18 additions to
the north, c1875 additions and alterations to the south. Rubble,
mostly coursed. Stone slate roof with hips, gables and tall brick
stacks. Irregular road front of 5 bays. 2 storeys. Right hand bay a
gable end with stack, then the pointed arch entrance with C20 timber
door and fanlight. Mostly sashes; C18 leaded casement to 1st floor
central recessed bay. North return has re-set C18 casements; south
return with 3 gables and 1875 4-pane sashes. Garden front left hand
gabled bay of similar sashes; central c1743 entrance with part-glazed
panelled door and lead-glazed 2-light casement at 1st floor; box-
framed 12-pane slightly recessed sashes to right. Extension to right
has leaded 2-light casements and catslide roof with gabled dormer.
Interior features of interest include the 1743 "Great Parlour", a
panelled room with chamfered and stopped spine beam, moulded
chimneypiece flanked by cupboards with double plain-panelled doors.
Original moulded cornice and shutters. Doors with H & HL hinges.
Northern late C18 extension with stone flagged floor and original
doors with H hinges. 1875 features include staircase with turned newel
and chamfered balusters in a red and white quarry-tiled hall,
chimneypieces and some chamfered Gothickpanels beneath the windows.
