SP 84 NE EMBERTON GRAVEL WALK

No. 4 (Gravel Lodge)

Pair of houses. Early C19, coursed rubblestone, slate roof. 2
storeys. Each house has 3 bays. Central doors have pointed arched
glazed panels and are set in flat roofed open porches. Blank panel
above doors. Sash windows have unusual Gothick glazing pattern. 5
panels wide, narrow outer and centre panes, the remaining 2 wide
with pointed head. The narrow panes are divided into 6 horizontally,
the wide into 4. Deep eaves to roof which is a double one with walls
linking each framed by projecting verges and concealing the inner
pitches. Stacks to gables and party walls, a total of 6.
