House. Later C19. Rubble; timber-frame and plaster; purple and
yellow brick facings; hipped and gabled plain tile roof with
central pyramid with cast-iron finial; stepped rubble lateral
stack, and smaller stack to front. 2-storeys, attic and
basement; scattered fenestration of plain lights and
casements. Entrance to right: 6-panelled door in moulded
architrave, recessed in buttressed porch with moulded brick
arch, under hipped gable roof on enriched consoles and braces.
To left, brick coped wall and circular stair turret with
cornice roof, leading to basement outhouse. Scattered
fenestration to sides and rear, which has large canted bay,
restored C20, under pentice roof, over protruding basement
area. Reputed to have been built by railway official to give
commanding view of the line.
