House. C18 origin, with early C19 additions and alterations, mid C19 and C20
alterations. Coursed rubble with stone dressings and quoins, some ashlar, front
rendered, plain tiled 2-span roof with raised coped verges and gable stacks.
U-plan including 2 rear wings. 2 storeys and 3 windows, all sashes with margin
glazing in plain architraves with cills, central canted bay through 2 storeys,
C20 French window and sash above, plinth, cornice and blocking course. To left,
a lower block set back, 2 storeys, ground floor similar sash and first floor
3-light casement with chamfered mullions; left return has gable end and rear
wing, forming 2 storeys and 3:2 windows, all small sashes except ground floor left
a larger sash with keystone and C20 glazed door to right, single storey lean-to to
left. To right, similar lower 2-storey block has 8-pane sash at ground floor and
stone cross window at first floor with chamfered mullion and transom; right
return has ground floor arcade of 3 bays divided by square columns, central recess
with round-headed C20 2-light casement with relieving arch, 8-pane sash to each
side, frieze and cornice; sash at first floor, single storey block to right has
round-headed opening for recessed C20 door with sidelights and overlight, 8-pane
sash to right, cornice, parapet and coping. Rear has 2 projecting 2-storey wings,
to right in rubble, to left with ashlar rear elevation and ashlar rear to main
house; rear of 2 storeys and 4 windows, all stone cross windows with moulded
mullions and transoms and dripstones at ground floor, straight quoins to left,
coved cornice and 2 hipped dormers, each with 2-light casement, quoins to right
obscured by addition of wing. Wing to left has cross window at ground and first
floor, left return has 8-pane sash at ground floor and sash at first floor; wing
to right has ground and first floor sash to left and right and central door to
left. Interior: not inspected.
