It is not known how long a church has stood on this site but one has certainly been here since the 12th century. The only remains are the stem and base of the font.
In the 14th century there was a rebuilding project, which saw a probable extension of the nave. The next 400 years saw the re-building of various parts of the church with some internal alterations occuring even in the 20th century.
