House, made into blanket-making factory in early C19 and now offices and store.
Late C17/early C18, with later alterations. Coursed limestone rubble; C19 stucco
front. Gabled stone slate roof; ridge stack of stone finished in brick. L-plan
with rear left wing. 2 storeys; 5-window range. Timber lintel over through-entry
with C19 plank doors to right. C20 windows except late C17/early C18
wood-mullioned and transomed cross windows to right of first floor (3) and to
left of ground floor (2). Gabled hoist opening has plank door and wood
jib-crane. Two late C17 and early C18 two-storey ranges to rear left, of similar
materials, with early C19 keyed brick segmental arches over openings and two C18
gabled roof dormers. Interior: stop-chamfered and chamfered beams. Collar-truss
roof with butt purlins, and butt-purlin roof to rear left. Subsidiary features:
late C17/early C18 outbuilding to rear left, of similar materials: L-plan, of 2
storeys; plank door beneath stone steps to plank loft door; interior has C19
cobbled runway, chamfered beams and C17 collar truss to rear. Early C19 factory
further to rear, of squared and coursed limestone with gabled Welsh-slate roof.
3-storey, 4-window range. Keyed brick segmental arches, segmental stone arches
and attic timber lintels over casement windows; plank loft doors to first floor
and attic, the latter with iron jib-crane. Interior; chamfered beams,
quarter-turn stairs and king-post roof. Formerly a blanket-making factory owned
by the Early family. (See 1876 O.S, map).
