II
Church school, c.1865-6 by S S Teulon for the Rev. George Blisset, with slightly later wing to
south. Stock brick, renewed slate roof L-shaped plan of main block with lower wing to south, the
entrance and stairs in the angle; two storeys, with attic floor in wing. Main five-bay front has four
tripartite windows per floor, those to ground floor with simple tracery under relieving arches.
Single light over comer entrance, where projecting porch has two-centred arched door. Lancets
to stairtower behind and in first floor of wing. Low tripartite window to ground floor of wing, and
attic dormer over. The most memorable features of the composition are the very high crowstep
gables to the ends of the main wing, both with four-light plate traceried windows, that to the east
lighting library. Over staircase angle a quirky bellcote with open timber lozenges.
Interior retains original doors, dadoes, staircase and open timber roofs, all simple and appropriate
in character.
