Farmhouse. Perhaps C15, enlarged in C17 and C18. Squared sandstone, asbestos
slate roofs, hipped to south, sandstone stacks with brick shafts. Rectangular
plan aligned north/south. Cellar, two storeys and attics. East elevation has
4:3 windows, 2-light early and late C20 casements with plat band to left, lower
right part has 3-light late C20 casements to centre and entry to right-hand side,
large stack to right of centre, left-hand side of roof is hipped. North elevation
has twin gables and blocked 2-light mullioned window. Interior has exposed cruck
blade near central stack; late C17 dog-leg staircase of four flights with turned
balusters, moulded strings and handrail, turned pendants to newel posts; re-
positioned C17 panelling with moulded surrounds in room to west of principal
chimney (RCHM Vol I, p 34).
