TL 2696 WHITTLESEY THE BOWER

Row of two cottages. c1750 with cottage to left hand added slightly later,
c1760. No. 2 of gault brick, English bond, now painted with reed thatch roof
and parapetted gable ends with end stacks. Plan of two rooms on either side
of narrower stair and hall bay with outshut at rear. One storey and attic.
Two dormers. Segmental arches to original window openings now with later
windows on either side of doorway. No. 3, adjoining, is slightly later and
also of gault brick, English bond. Pantiled roof with tumbled parapet gable
end and end stack. Single room plan with outshut at rear. One storey and
attic. One dormer. Segmental arch to window opening and to doorway. The
doorway retains its original six raised and fielded panelled door. Inside
some contemporary panelled doors and vertical panelling, C18, to the
staircase partitioning at first floor.
