Terrace of 4 estate cottage, converted into 2 cottages. Circa mid C19. Local
stone rubble with redbrick window arches. Asbestos slate roof with gable
ends; the left hand end has ornate fretwork bargeboards; the right hand gable
has bargeboards replaced by slate hanging. Rendered gable end and central
axial stacks.
Plan: Row of 4 cottages in 2 pairs with 2 pairs of adjoining doorways with
shared porches. The cottages were probably of 1-room plan with services in
rear outshuts. Converted to 2 larger cottages in the C20, and a garage built
at the left had end of the left hand cottage.
Exterior: 1 storey and attic. Symmetrical 4-window range of 2-light
casements with leaded panes, cambered red brick arches and slate sills.
Hillside to the right retains its C19 casements with diamond-shaped leaded
panes; Church Cottage has C20 replacement casements. Paired doorways with
open hipped roof porches; Hillside to the right has C19 plank doors; Church
Cottage to the left has a C20 plank door to the left and a blocked right had
doorway.
Including front garden area wall; Cl9 , stone rubble, with 2 pedestrian
gateways each with late C20 wrought iron gates.
