GV II
Statue of Diana the Huntress. Probably later C18, but said to have been brought from Greece by a member of the Clifton family. White marble. Mounted on rectangular plinth enclosed by C20 circular wall; slightly less than life-size figure of Diana in mid stride, her left hand clutching a deer by the horns and her right hand reaching over her shoulder to draw an arrow from the quiver. (One of 2 garden statues, the other, depicting Venus after the bath, now in the north entrance hall of the house but formerly in a rose garden to the north.)
