Farmhouse. Probably mid-to late C17 with later additions and alterations. Painted
roughly coursed slate-stone; slate roof. 3-bay farmhouse with L-shaped cowhouse
attached to left. 2 storeys. 3-window front. Ground floor has 3-light C19 casements
to either side of C20 lean-to glazed porch over C20 six-panel door (upper panels
glazed). 3 late C20 casements in C19 style directly below eaves. Integral end
stack with slate drips to right and similar ridge stack (possibly formerly an end
stack) at junction with cowhouse. Interior: Ground-floor rooms of house have exposed
sawn joists (late C20 to left room). Open fireplaces with chamfered wood lintels,
brick-edged ventilation holes to back and cloam ovens. First floor has roughly
carved cross beams and protruding bases of principal rafters of collar truss roof
in 7 bays. Cl9 collar truss roof to cowhouse. Late C20 flat-roofed and gabled
additions to rear of house are not of special architectural interest.
