Terrace house. Latter part of C18. Stock brick, slate roof. 4 storeys and
basement. 3 windows wide. Entrance to right with 6 panel door and rectangular
fanlight in architrave surround. Recessed later C19 sash windows with stuccoed
reveals under flat gauged arches and with stone sills. Stone coped parapet, original
cast iron area railings; iron boot scraper on left of doorstep. Interior retains
arcaded entrance hall with plaster cornices; open well staircase top lit by oval
radial glazed domed lantern. The stairs with shaped brackets to tread ends, slender
square balusters, enriched friezes to floor levels; original plasterwork cornices,
fluted door architraves,panelled reveals, shutters etc. Benjamin Wyatt, architect,
lived and worked here from 1810 to 1832 when obliged to move by bankruptcy.
