House, 2 structures, later public house. C16 and C17, with C19
alterations, restored and part rebuilt 1990. Right hand shares
structure with No.38 (qv), timber-framed, with smooth render
finish to front, side and rear dark stained weatherboarding,
old tiled roof, brick chimneystack shared with No.38.
2 storeys, first floor single-light sash, ground floor
triple-light sash, both with glazing bars and flush set. 4
flush panel door in plain wooden reveal and surround,
elaborate cut console brackets to hood. To left is earlier
structure, C16, timber-framed and smooth rendered, with
steeper pitch old tiled roof. 2 storeys, first floor jettied
on cut wooden bracket, and beam ends exposed, with one flush
set sash window with exposed boxes and glazing bars. Ground
floor one sliding Yorkshire casement, flush set with glazing
bars. Both windows appear to be reproductions of earlier
windows, installed during 1990 restoration. 2-storeyed rear
extension built 1990. Together with No.38, this was The Red
Cow Public House during the C19 until the 1930s.
