House, burgage frontage may once have included Bear Court (q.v.). Late
C16 or C17 front, altered. Coursed and squared rubble on chamfered
plinth, slate roof (concrete tiles to rear), brick end chimnies. 2
storeys on cellar. 2 wide spaced windows, four-light mullion type with
drips on 1st floor - replaced in wood, surrounds retain the hollow
chamfer. To left on ground floor a C19 4-light casement and simple
panelled door to left. Wide central entry with wooden canopy sheltering
also glazing bar window to right; C20 shop-front projecting to right.
Gable return has hollow - chamfered attic window.
In 1821 Buckler depicts this house as having a pair of minor doorways in
centre and no through-alley.
