Hotel. C18, modified or rebuilt early C19. Ham stone ashlar; Welsh slate roof to shallow pitch between stepped coped
gables; brick end chimney stacks. Three storeys, 3 bays. Plinth, band courses, moulded eaves course; sash windows in
plain openings, 16-pane to ground and first floors and 12-pane to second; central doorway has wide pair of Regency
style 4-panelled doors under rectangular fanlight; hanging signs on single wrot iron bracket to right at first floor
level. Matching south-west gable of 3 bays, then a lower 2-storey extension with a 3 centred archway to boarded doors
at lower level. Interior not much altered in public rooms. Hotel first mentioned by name 1736. (VCH, Vol III, 1974).
