Cottages and workshop in row. Possibly C17 origins, with C19 modifications. Ham stone ashlar; double Roman clay tile
roof with coped north gable; brick chimney stacks. Two storeys, random fenestration. No. 3 now offices, 2 bays, with
throughway with double, boarded gates to left under timber clad loft with door and casement windows, and to right a
2-light small- pane casement above and 3 eight-pane sash windows grouped under a timber lintol below. No. 5 is
single-bay, with 2-light casements to both floors and simple chamfered doorway to right with C19 door. No. 7 has a
3-light horizontal bar casement below and a 2-light small pane casement and a square window above; the lower windows to
Nos. 5 and 7 are both cut into stone labels. Interiors not seen. About 3m east of Nos. 5 and 7 are railings set on low
stone walls, alternate small hoops and cast-iron leaf-arrowheads, later timber gates opposite both doors; curved return
back to north-east corner of No. 5, adding to setting of houses and the streetscene. This row included primarily for
group value in a good collection of houses along this stretch of the road. Yandle and Son Ltd. builders and
uheelwrights, have been in business here since 1906. (VCH, Vol III, 1974).
