GV II Part of Country house. (For earliest part see description for Williamscot House late C16 range). Georgian wing. 2 builds. Datestone ST 1704. Said to have been extended 1777 (Loveday family records) rather than c.1790 (Pevsner & VCH). Balustraded parapet added c.1840. Ironstone ashlar. Hipped and gabled slate roof. Ironstone ridge and end stacks. 3-unit plan. Garden front. 2 storeys plus attic. 5-window range. Entrance to rear and left end. Ground floor has 5 sashes with stone heads. 5 similar first floor windows. Balustraded parapet. Stone-coped gables. 3 gabled dormers. Rear has straight joint between 1704 part on left of squared coursed ironstone and right part of c.1777 built in ironstone ashlar. C20 porch. Interior. C18 stair from first floor to attic. Former Library on first floor has late C18 doors and panelling. Butt purlin roof. Walter Calcott built the original house in c.1568. It passed either by bequest or descent to his nephew Calcott Chambre and to the Taylor family by sale in the first half of the C17. In 1777 the house passed by marriage to the Loveday family. The house was sold and converted to 3 dwellings in c.1978. (Buildings of England: Oxfordshire: 1974, p825)
