Early to mid C19, possible rehandling of earlier structure. Set at right
angles to road. 2 storeys rough cast stone with rendered flanking strips
and frieze. Low pitch hipped slate roof with bracketed eaves. 4 windows,
small on 1st floor, 2-light wood casements with marginal glazing, one
of 3 lights ground floor left, all set in stone surrounds. Modern gabled
porch replaces trellis one.

"Grassmere" and Rose Cottage form a group.
