Bank barn. Early/mid C19, using timbers from earlier structure.
Weatherboard over timber frame; rear wall of local rubble;
gabled corrugated iron roof. PLAN: bank barn with threshing
floor above ground-floor cattle shed, open-fronted and facing
south into yard. EXTERIOR: 2 storeys. South front has central
plank double doors above open-fronted ground floor divided into
5 bays by circular stone columns with plain abaci. INTERIOR:
similar row of columns back onto rear feeding passage. C19
timber framing with vertical studs of slight scantling and
diagonal braces, including some reused timbers to floor; 5-bay
late C17/early C18 collar-truss roof, with principal rafters
tenoned and pegged into thin C19 wall posts. An unusual example,
for this region, of a timber-framed farm building, the ground-
floor columns being a particularly distinctive design.
