4/18 Lych Gate about 8 metres
- south of Parish Church of
St James
GV II

Lych gate. Probably 1860 by Sir G G Scott who restored the church. Ashlar
slatestone and granite with gabled roof of alternate courses of plain and fishscale
slates. Crested ridge tiles, timber lattice work in gable ends. Tiled floor
beneath gable with granite coffin rest set on dressed freestone slab. Side walls
supporting roof have slits separated by chamfered granite rounded finials to styles
and strap hinges.
