House in 3 occupations. Late C16. Large dressed stone, stone slate roof. 2
storeys. Hall-and-cross-wing plan. South front of 4 linear divisions. 1st is
cross-wing which projects and has double chamfered mullioned windows of 4 lights
with hollow chamfered mullions with hoodmould with straight return, same over to
1st floor (lacks 2 mullions). Doorway with tie-stones now forms window. Coped
gable with crocketed finial to gable. 2nd division formed by porch under cat-
slide roof with main range, filling in the corner formed by junction of cross-
wing and hall range. Has massive doorway with composite jambs and moulded
surround with deeply moulded hood over. 3rd division formed by 4-light double
chamfered mullioned window (lacking mullions). 4th division formed by large
hall window with double chamfered surround and hollow chamfered mullions and
transoms, formerly of 12 lights now ½ blocked with inserted floor in originally
open chamber. Over window, is 3-light chamfered mullioned window. One stack at
junction of 3rd and 4th divisions. Return wall of cross-wing has altered large
chamfered windows, mid C19, inserted into original walling.
