House, part used as shop and Post Office. Mainly C18, but incorporating remains
of a C17 house. Coursed rubble stone walls, stone slate roof, brick stack at
right end and one at rear. 2 storeys. Part-glazed ledged door under flat-hood
on shaped brackets. Ground floor has 4 casements with lead lights under flat
arches. First floor has 5 casements with lead lights. Attached flat-roofed
garage on left, in stone, with plain coping. Timber garage doors. Remains of
earlier building at rear. A National Trust property. (RCHM, Monument 84.
Dorset. Vol. II).
