15.8.66 Hall
(formerly listed as Barn at
GV II Beeston Hall)
Barn, late C18. Hammer dressed stone, ashlar quoins, stone slate roof. 2
storeys. Wide elliptical arched cart entry with expressed keystone, monolithic
jambs and moulded imposts. Over is 4-light flat faced mullioned window.
Similar inner arch set within portal with doorways with monolithic jambs set
within the re-entrant angle. To either side mistal doorways with monlithic
jambs and former 4-light flat faced mullioned window to both floors. Right hand
return wall has wide gable with 1st floor taking-in door (blocked). Rectangular
ventilators arranged 2 over 3 with owl-hole to apex. It is possible this
building may have been connected with the textile industry and was not intended
primarily as a barn but may have been a loom shop or warehouse.
