Terrace of houses. Mid C19 for Attwood, owner of Weardale Iron Company.
Coursed squared sandstone with ashlar quoins and dressings; left 3 bays rendered.
Welsh slate roof with stone gable copings and yellow brick chimneys. 2 storeys,
9 bays, the central 3 projecting slightly under low gable. Central 6-panelled
double door with side and overlights under label mould; hardboard-covered door
at centre left and 6-panelled door at centre right in raised alternate-block
jambs under lintels carved in imitation of voussoirs. Similar surrounds to 2
ground-floor and 3 first-floor windows, most with late C19-type sashes, in
outer houses; central projection contains full-height canted bays flanking door,
and small oriel over door, with stone-flagged roofs; gable peak has blind
roundel under coping resting on moulded kneelers. 4 ridge chimneys have tall
yellow pots with downward-pointing flue vents.
Rear shows lozenge-shaped stair windows with diagonally-sliding sashes.
