House and 2 shops. Rear range, No 6A 17th century with late 18th
century or early 19th century front range (Nos 6 and 8) with 20th
century shopfronts. Front range of red brick, No 6 stuccoed, No 8
painted except for rear elevation, with pegtiled roof and off central
brick stack. Rear range timber framed but refronted in cement render
with incised lines in early 19th century. Front range of 2 storeys 3
windows, 16-pane sashes. 20th century shopfronts. Rear range of 2
storeys 2 windows into partially stuccoed end stack and lean to to
rear. Plinth. Corner has 2 storey canted bay with 19th century
tripartite sash to first floor and 19th century 4-light bay to ground
floor. Right side early 19th century 6-pane sash with moulded
architrave. Early 19th century doorcase with flat wooden hood on
elaborate cast iron brackets. Interior has steep early 19th century
winder staircase. 1st floor rear room has framed partition with
diagonal trace and possible blocked-in open fireplace. Early 19th
century plank door. Roof has through purlins and queen struts and
collar beam. Rafters formerly concealed behind lath and plaster.
