Built as public library and school 1901 following design competition, won by
A W S Cross. Art Nouveau style. Main front is an assymmetrical facade, with deep
plaster frieze above red brick (English bond) walling, corner staircase turret.
Low-relief carving on frieze. Bold porch with heavy cornice supported by short
coupled columns on a 'battered' base wall.
