Wall memorial to Chiverton Hartopp d.1759 aet 69, wife Catherine d.1755 aet 54. (The shield is -three otters between a chevron ermine- (Hartopp) impaled with -three maunches between a chevron- intended for his wifes family as this is a funeral monument. The spears and swords imply his battle honours. The bird atop his helms crown is a martlet - it is shown with feathers where its legs would be. This implies, in blazonry, that Mr Hartopp was tireless in his military campaigns - he too would be unlikely to come to rest. (Photo Mar 2007).
