7/23 The Manor House
II
Farmhouse, now a house. Early C17 and c.1780. Partly recased
mid C19. Remains of timber framing and brick, partly roughcast.
Pantile and slate roofs. Brick plinth, rebated eaves, single
coped gable. 2 gable, single ridge and single side wall stacks.
2 storeys plus garrets, 4 bays. L-plan. Windows are glazing
bar sashes and casements. South front has gabled timber framed
wing to right. To left, door with overlight and to its right,
round headed scraper. Flanked by single sashes. Above, 3
sashes, the central one smallest. Gable to right has an off-
centre casement on each floor. Return angle has a single
casement. Wing has to east, a casement. Above, a Yorkshire sash
and a casement. East end has adjoining single storey service
rooms, brick with lean-to pantile roofs. North side has 2
hatches and C20 door. Rear elevation has to left, C17 wing with
C19 lean-to pantile roof and a casement. Above and to right, a
sash. To right, gabled mid C19 porch with a sash. To its left,
2 and to right single sashes. Above, to left, a sash. C17 wing
has softwood winder stair, cambered and chamfered span beams, one
with lambs tongue stops. Stud partition with intermediate rail.
6 plank doors. C18 portion has dogleg stair with turned newel,
ramped handrail and stick balusters. 2 fluted ashlar fireplaces.
Hob grate.
