Terrace house. One of two surviving houses original to the square, c.1677-80 with
some early C19 alteration to facade. Stock brick, slate roof. 4 storeys and
basement, the top floor a later addition. 3 windows wide. Ground floor stuccoed,
doorway to right with panelled door and rectangular fanlight in plain surround with
cornice; ground floor flush framed sashes, glazing bars intact. Upper floors have
flush framed sashes, glazing bars intact to 1st floor, under flat gauged red brick
arches. Moulded brick plat bands, parapet with coping. Interior has traditional
plan with passage hall and closet wing and of original features retains hall
panelling with panelled jamb archway to stair compartment with dog leg substantial
closed string staircase with vase shaped turned balusters, heavy moulded handrail,
plain newel; bolection moulded panelling to ground floor rear room, 1st floor rear
room with plain marble early C18 fireplace and front room chimney piece slightly
later with marble slips and eared architrave, heavy box cornices etc.
