Chest tomb in south chapel to Sir Everard Digby d. 1540. Effigy in plate armour. The head has been knocked off. The inscription used to read, in Latin, -Here lies the body of Colonel Everard Digby, who died 11th April 1540 AD. (White, History of Rutland, 1684) Late Decorated Gothic panelling with shields containing the Digby fleur-de-lys. Renaissance baluster columns at the angles. The canopy has a four-centred arch in a rectangular frame with battlements, supported by enriched baluster pilasters. In the wall is an ogee-headed squint, used by the chapel priest to time his service to the chancel high altar. (Photo Oct 2007).
