Terrace of houses. c.1790 Portman Estate development following on
Manchester Square and contemporary with Baker Street. Stock brick, the
ground floors faced in stucco (except for Nos. 42 to 46) mostly
channelled; concealed slate roofs. Similar elevations to Nos. 18 to 27
q.v. opposite. 4 storeys and basements. Mostly 2-window wide fronts,
3-window front to No. 30 and 4 windows to No. 36. Semicircular arched
doorways mostly to left, adjoining doorways to Nos. 28-29 and Nos. 31-32;
enriched Coade imposts and bearded head keystones of varied pattern;
panelled doors, moulded doorheads and fanlights, some retaining radial
pattern. Recessed sashes, under flat gauged red brick arches to upper
floors. 1st floor plat band finishing off stuccowork. Crowning stucco
cornices and blocking courses. Cast iron geometric pattern balconies
across 1st floor. Cast iron area railings with urn finials.
