Maltings. Early C19, probably between 1806 and 1828 (date on
adjacent maltings qv). Red brick in Flemish bond, the east ends
faced in gault brick. Half-hipped slate roof, the south range
reclad in asbestos tiles.

Pair of rectangular adjacent maltings, not quite parallel and
almost touching each other at the west end; the north maltings a
little longer.

2 storeys and attic. Small segmental brick arched window openings
with grilles and ground and first floor dorways with plank doors.
Attic windows in the gable ends. Tall slim grain silo between the
two ranges at the east end, clad in corrugated iron.

Interior: Closely-spaced wooden lateral beams on slim iron posts
with metal pads. Tie-beam and queen-strut roof trusses, the tie-
beams supported on wooden posts.

Note: Kelly's Directory (1906) mentions:- "very extensive malting
establishments in the town and adjoining parish of Mistley".
