Farmhouse, dated 1691 and 1694, with C18 additions, now house,
in course of restoration (1984). Coursed sandstone rubble with
quoins (now ribbon pointed), slate roof with one ridge chimney
stack. Three-bay baffle entry plan with projecting porch, added
outshut to rear, and attached at front left corner a square-plan
cottage with roof ridged at right angles to the original house.
Two storeys; roof carries down over large porch at junction of 2nd
and 3rd bays, which has a 1st floor string course moulded with 3
fillets (slightly oversailing wall above this suggests original
2-storey porch cut down), a moulded doorway with Tudor-arched
undercut lintel, and above the string course a decorated datestone
in chamfered surround lettered in relief "1694 "; a studded inner
W:N:M
door in a chamfered and Tudor-arched opening above which is another
datestone lettered in relief "1691"; and in each side wall a round-
W:N:M
headed peephole window. Right of porch are 2 double-chamfered stone
mullion windows on each floor, those at ground floor with
hoodmoulds are 5 and 4 lights (the latter lacking one mullion), those
above both 4 lights but lacking all mullions except one in the left
window; left of the porch is one restored 5-light window on
each floor. Left return wall has a round-headed window on each
floor, rear has a similar window at 1st floor and a 5-light mullioned
window at ground floor; roof carries down over long outshut which
has 4 square casements. C18 cottage to left is of watershot
masonry with quoins, has a plain doorway in the centre, one window each
side and one above; chimney at left side.
