Description

ST4717 STOKE SUB HAMDON CP HAM HILL ROAD, (East side)
6/303 No. 53
-
GV II
End cottage in row. Dated 1826. Ham stone cut and squared, ashlar dressings to facade, coursed rubble to sides and
and rear; Welsh slate roof with stepped coped north gable, abutment to south; brick chimney stack. Two-storeys, 2 bays.
Three-light plain mullioned windows with beaded surrounds; between bays the doorway with shallow opoen porch having
ashlar side walls and flat stone top. Interior not seen. The datestone 1826 between upper windows: this is one of a
group of small houses close to the Ham stone quarries, and almost certainly a stonemason's house.
