Farmhouse, early C18, probably on earlier core, altered c1900,
roughcast over brick ground floor with slate hipped roof and axial
ridge stack. Two storeys and attic. Two hipped dormers. Coved
eaves cornice, four first floor unevenly spaced small-paned
casement pairs, ground floor 6-panel door with pedimented timber
hood and two similar triple casements to left, one to right. West
end has some rubble stone to ground floor. c1900 rear addition
with battered brick ridge stack. General Sir William Waller,
commander of the Parliamentary forces, is supposed to have
breakfasted here before his defeat by the Royalists on Roundway
Down, 13 July 1643.
