5/201 Roundway Hill Farmhouse
II
Farmhouse, late C18 or early C19, red brick with ashlar dressings
and steep slate hipped roof. Stacks on side ridges. Two storeys
and attic, square plan, 3-window range. Ashlar plinth, flush
quoins, band, moulded eaves cornice and flush window surrounds to
Gothic casement windows. Original windows with pointed-heads were
2-light to centre and tripartite each side, the centre light
flanked by narrow side lights, but ground floor has added square
bay windows with 3-light matching windows, the lights of even size.
Centre door in flush Tudor-arched surround with hood on brackets.
Central gabled dormer with pointed-head casement pair. South side
has similar 2-window range, original tripartite windows above,
added 3-light square bays below. Rear has similar gabled dormer,
tripartite upper windows and square bays but centre 2-storey
projection, probably-added with 2-light over Tudor-arched doorway.
A single pointed light on first floor each side of projection.
North end has c1900 matching addition. Said to date from 1720,
profile is more typically early C18 but detail seems of c1800.
