Probably early-mid C19 Portland stone post set diagonally. Near corner rounded
into quadrant curve, with chamfer below stopped into angle. Inscriptions:
1. On quadrant: HYDE PARK CORNER,
2. On chamfer: 40,
3. On west face of angle: GODALMING 8 MILES and a benchmark,
4. On east side: LIPHOOK 4 MILES.
George Bernard Shaw mentioned this milestone in his letters from Blencathra when
he lived there.
