School. 1859-60, by Fulljames and Waller for the Jarvis Educational Foundation. English bond red brick with stone dressings. Clay plain tile roofs with stone-coped gables. Large brick axial stacks. Style: Collegiate Tudor Gothic. Large school building with central entrance tower and flanking schoolrooms and with another tower at left (west) end. Exterior: 2 storeys and attic. Almost symmetrica115-bay south front with projecting central tower with steps up to Gothic pointed arch doorway, set-offs, clock in Gothic panel and squat spire; flanking gables and projecting schoolrooms with large 3-tight Gothic windows in gable ends. Stone mullion-transom windows with labels. Tower on west side with pointed arch doorway, bell-openings and pyramidal roof Gabled rear elevation with cloister on right. Interior not inspected.
