Gate piers and screen plinths at SW
corner of Forest Recreation Ground

Gate piers and screen plinths. Late C19. Ashlar. Pair of
square gate piers with chamfered corners and enriched
pyramidal caps, formerly topped with cast-iron lamps. On each
side, incurving plinths with chamfered copings, ending in
similar square piers. On each side, along Forest Road,
straight plinths approx 10m long, with chamfered square pier
with cornice cap to east. Railings and gates removed.
This gateway is one of several of similar design erected by
Nottingham Corporation at entrances to the Forest and Waterloo
Promenade.
