Centre Block only previously listed in 1955. Circa 1783 and later. Painted
brick. The original centre block, built for Sir Richard Arkwright, is
of 4 storeys with 3 windows, the outers being Venetian and the central
semi-circular, all in stone surrounds; central doorway in stone surround;
rusticated quoins to front angles; coped parapet with 2 oval plaques and
central circular plaque. Later 5-storeyed wings of painted brick at sides,
each having 8 windows with channelled lintels; quoins at side of left-hand
block; plain eaves; slates.
