HIGH STREET (South Side),
Central Stores, Gable End and The Old Tinkers Inn

(Formerly listed as Central Stores and Gable End)

House and shop. Probably C18 building remodelled later C19. Coursed limestone rubble. Banded fishscale and plain old clay tile roof. 4 window bays. Four regularly spaced red brick ridge chimney stacks; two to gable ends. Two storeys and attics. Scalloped bargeboards and large decorative timber brackets to gable ends. N. elevation: large central and two small flanking gables with bargeboards and brackets. Attic three 3-light casement windows. Under central gable is a two storey canted bay window with cast iron balcony to top. First floor has two other 3-light casements. Ground floor has 3-light casement to left hand side and modern shop window to right hand side in original opening. Flanking central bay are doorways with large steeply pitched gabled doorhoods on brackets. Above right hand doorway is a single light leaded casement between floors.
